Solatube

Solatube is used to distribute natural light in spaces where traditional window cannot be used. It works great in bathrooms, storages and laundry rooms.
The dome is installed on the roof and it harvests daylight. Light does not have to fall on the roof. Of course great invention of Fresnel lens systems comes handy here. Dome is able to collect the dyalight because of the fresnel lens system.
Next tube comes into play. There are two different tubes: FLEXIBLE and RIGID. According to BRE testing http://commonsenseuk.co.uk/documents/bre-report-248038.pdf, on average rigid tube will deliver 10 times more light than a flexible system.
Next part of this amazing daylighting system is the difusser. Diffuser is the part that is seen in the ceiling. Good difusser distributes light evenly. It also blocks UV transmission.
